Recently, I watched a very good video. It was good enough that I pulled a Lorna and took notes. And I copied my wife and made a blog post about it too. Thought I would share.
- Time is your most valuable and scarcest resource (1440 minutes a day)
- Identify your most important task. And do it. First. (Schedule it and do it)
- Work from your calendar, NOT a to do list.
- To overcome procrastination, be your future self.
- There will always be more to do. (Some things can wait). (Day ends when you are tired, not when you are done. Never be done.)
- Always carry a notebook. (Use your mind to process information, not to hold it.)
- Control your inbox. (And voicemail). Choose when you want to do it.
- Schedule and attend meetings as a last resort.
- Say no to everything that does not support your immediate goals
- Follow the powerful Pareto Principle. (80/20 rule)
- Focus on your unique strengths and passions
- Batch your work with recurring themes (focus days, buffer days, free days)
- If you can do a task in less than five minutes, do it immediately. (Touch everything only once)
- Routinely use early mornings to strengthen your mind, your body, and your spirit. (Make the first hour of your day count - invest in yourself)
- Productivity is about energy and focus, not time (take more breaks. i.e. sprint and rest)
