Since many of you have iPhones and pretty much all of you have a cellular phone, I thought I would share something I found out.

You see, lately, I was thinking maybe my old phone needs to be replaced. The lightning cable to charge the phone was no longer seating properly, so sometimes no charging. Especially if I touch the phone while it is plugged in.

Amazing how things work out. As I am having this issue and mulling over ponying up for a replacement, an article appears a few days ago. Unfortunately, the article page was long closed out. But I remember the gist of it.

It said that sometimes the port for the cable can get dirty, especially if the phone is older (like mine is). And the dust inside can interfere with how the plug is supposed to seat in the port. That can result in a poor connection and things like spotty charging.

Th article said to take something small and wooden or plastic, like a toothpick. And very gently run it along inside the port. That can clean out the stuff inside. Just so happens that I always have a little Swiss army knife on my with the little plastic toothpick. So it double for lightning port cleaning duty. I gently ran it around in the puka a little bit. Then I used a can of compressed air to blow into the port at an angle. Lo and behold, two little clumps of dust came out. And now, the plugs seats properly with a tiny click, like it is supposed to.

Now I will wait until next year’s models come out with the newly enhanced triple lens camera come out until I decide if an upgrade is warranted.

For now, my pake side won out with the aid of a little plastic SAK toothpick.
